Pakistani Weddings

Weddings in Pakistan are among the most celebrated events of the country. Its arrival brings a number of gestures- excitement, happiness, emotions and a lot more.

As the country consists of different folklores, variation is seen in their styles.
In general wedding is a three-day event comprising mehndi, barat & valima. However with time more side events are added to the list such as Nikkah ceremony, mayun, bridal showers, musical evenings etc.
It seems as if Pakistanis are in search of a reason to get together and celebrate, their fun-loving nature being the reason.

Talking about the primordial occasions , Mehndi is a very bright and happening night. Guests shine in gaudy duds, specially the females. Dholki beats echo in the atmosphere and family members show their moves in a cultural dance known as ludi. Numerous traditions -known as 'Rasm'- are carried out.
However Barat is more of a grand event. It is the main Wedding Day. Mostly the females wear red attire while males go for black tucks.
Valima is the only event organized by the groom's family. It is the most light occasion in three mains. Customarily the venue is embellished with pastel colors.

Gradually people have started spending colossal amounts on their events. The core reason could be the inauguration of Wedding planning firms in their society. All the efforts which were done by them previously are taken up by event planners who serve to be a great source of ease. They get everything from one window and all the have to do is pay amounts and enjoy their parties.

The New Era

Although the basics remain same, Pakistani Weddings have evolved rapidly over the past few years.
The people who have celebrated their occasions very closely to a specific standard are now eagerly adapting to the changes made by the active members of Wedding Organizing society of Pakistan.

There could be numerous reasons for this big turnover, but what really makes sense is that people have had too much from the cliches. Every wedding celebration seemed to be the same as the previously attended one. Mehndis remained yellow, Barats remained red and Valimas remained white. All of this boredom was enough to trigger the extinction of typical trends.

Now the Wedding Planners served to Life Savers. The creative minds helped to bring back souls of our Shadi Mania. Every piece of wedding got a new look. The brightness came back with a bang and finally people's interest began to increase. This got so much success that encouraged more and more mass into the field where every company worked to give their clients a new event every time.

First of all people have realized and started to experiment with different colours other than the usual yellows, reds and whites. Color schemes have taken a drift everywhere whether it is dress designing or on spot decoration.
The trends carried on from generations exist no more.

Be it dancing spots on mehndis or entrances on the main days, conventional ways are replaced by arcylic floors and wooden ramps. Bride and Groom formally plan their entrance to become cynosure of the night.
People have completely switched from old cameras to cinematic covering of events and outdoor shoots to make your event worth remembering.
Mehndis are have found themselves much more fun than the traditional dholki beats. Famliy slideshows tend to make them emotional.
Barats have got soul with musical extrvagnce. Whereas Valimas have become more casual and enjoyable after becoming more of a gathering instead of a typical parade.

Different cities possess a distinctive style of arranging a wedding. For instance weddings in Islamabad are usually  kept light but attractive however the ones in Lahore and Karachi share a common touch of darker shades with grandness.

Realizing the true essence of weddings, Pakistanis are the ones who actually know how to cherish the best of them.
The changeover in wedding celebrations over the last few years speaks for the fact stated.

Just as the 21 st century stepped in, it brought along turnovers in the wedding sector for Pakistanis.
Their thoughts, ideas, spending power rather the complete mindset geared up from the road of conventional ways onto the highway of class. LEDs replaced candles, dance floors replaced yellow sheets, DJ replaced recorders, professional dances replaced ludis and much more.

Well all of this did not happen through a magic wand swirled to bring changes overnight.
So who's the culprit?
To those wondering about the reason behind it; it was nothing but the arrival of "Wedding Planners".

After years of self-involvement in every bit of preparations, wedding planners served to be nothing less than angels.
They managed to provide their clients everything on plate. All the hard work done by them  previously now appeared as a piece of cake, It was time when they could actually enter the rendezvous as guests.
Experiencing the amenities of hiring wedding planners, people started to choose them instead of working themselves.

The epicenter of supplant where the cities under limelight such as Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. Gradually the trend  spread throughout the map.

The introduction of Wedding Planners paved the way for other vogues as well. Among them was increase in the number and types of celebrations. Apart from typical Mehndi, Barat & Valima other events like sangeet, kawali night, pre-wedding themed parites & bridal shower added on to the list. One of the reason behind them was the ease and variety of arrangements by the event organizers.
